Comparison between peristaltic pump dosing machine and metering pump dosing machine

Peristaltic pump dosing machines and metering pumps are often used in one-point dosing equipment, such as adding disinfectants to swimming pools, adding chlorine to tap water, etc. Metering pumps are generally divided into diaphragm metering pumps, plunger metering pumps, and peristaltic pumps with constant flow. Pumps are also divided into high-pressure peristaltic pumps and low-pressure peristaltic pumps. Two different types of pumps have their own characteristics and differences when used in dosing machines. The details are as follows:

1. The liquid in the peristaltic pump only contacts the pipeline. Unlike gear pumps and metering pumps, there are blind areas in the pump, and it is very easy for residual liquid to remain in the pump.

2. The working pressure burden of basic peristaltic pumps is within 0.2MPa. High-pressure peristaltic pumps are rare and can guarantee a higher pressure of 0.6MPa.

3. Metering pumps cannot transport liquids containing solid residues. Peristaltic pumps can transport solid matter particles whose diameter does not exceed 30% of the pipe diameter.

4. The accuracy of the peristaltic pump dosing machine is slightly better than that of the metering pump, and the accuracy of the peristaltic pump can reach 1%.

5. The maintenance of the metering pump is relatively inconvenient. It is more troublesome to replace the hydraulic seals and diaphragms. However, it is very convenient to replace the plastic hose of the peristaltic pump.

6. In terms of cost performance, metering pumps are easier to achieve greater flow and load, and their prices are also more cost-effective. Peristaltic pumps can usually replace metering pumps better at flow rates around and within ten L per hour. The cost of peristaltic pumps with larger flow rates is higher.

7. In terms of the characteristics of transporting liquids, peristaltic pumps can transport liquids with higher viscosity, but naturally the efficiency will be reduced.

Relatively speaking, the application fields of metering pumps are more common in the project application of dosing machines. Peristaltic pump dosing machines are more like a unique pump type.
